About the event
WID is teaming up with Women in Toys to host a tour of the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Serious Play: Design in Midcentury America. The tour, led by MAM Demmer Curator of 20th and 21st Century Design Monica Obniski, begins with introductions to toy design work completed by UWM Department of Architecture students. The event ends with a tour of an exhibition of Portmanteau that are on display in the Schroeder Galleria as part of the ACSA Fall Conference: Play with the Rules. The UWM School of Architecture and Urban Planning is hosting the conference from October 11-13th.

5:30-6:00 pm Meet/Intro/Mingle/Grab a glass of wine - East End
6:00-6:15 pm Kohl’s Studio - student projects from UWM’s architecture students inspired by and developed in conjunction with the exhibit.
6:15-6:45 pm Tour of Serious Play Exhibit with Monica (the exhibit curator)
6:45-7:15 pm Portmanteau introduction and closing Discussion (The Portmanteau is a design competition hosted during the ACSA Play with the Rules Conference.)
8:00 pm Get out or your car is stuck in the garage.
